As you probably already know, the greatest (and medium-defining) graphic novel of all time, Watchmen, is being adapted into a feature film to be released on March 6th of 2009. Music News: Oops! Amy Winehouse Does New 007 Theme
By John Michael Cassetta • Apr 19th, 2008 • Category: Film, Music, News, Televsion & Film![]() |
Just when things were going well for the Bond franchise, we get this, courtesy of Paste magazine:
Amy Winehouse has teamed up again with Mark Ronson, but this time it’s to write and record the theme song for the next James Bond Film, Quantum of Solace. Ronson and Winehouse have retreated to Ronson’s Henley, Oxfordshire home to work on the song.
“They have no idea what they’re going to do. In true Amy fashion, they’re going to busk it. But I’m sure it will be brilliant. The new Bond film is supposed to be really dark so Amy will fit the bill perfectly,” The Sun quoted a source as saying.
Hopefully it’s just a cover of “Live and Let Die,” because that might be the only redeeming option.
The film is out November 7th.

There was once a time, many moons ago, when someone said the name “Eddie Murphy” and people started laughing. They would think of him getting thrown through a plate glass window in Beverly Hills Cop, or on Saturday Night Live as Mr. Robinson, the black Mr. Rogers, and they would laugh. These days, if you stop on a crowded street and say, “Eddie Murphy,” you’re liable to get punched in the face. Outside of a well-received dramatic turn in 2006’s Dreamgirls, Eddie Murphy has been starring in bad comedies and family movies for over a decade now. This summer, when Eddie Murphy’s new film, Meet Dave, opens…that trend will continue.

I don’t know if you know this, but Ricky Gervais is funny. With such hits as Extras and The Office, Gervais has brought his “man of mediocrity” protagonist to a shining spotlight and established himself as one of the current leaders of comedy. He’s decided to trade in his television booties and strap on some cinematic sandals with his latest vehicle This Side of the Truth. Co-written and Co-directed with Matt Robinson, Gervais will star opposite Jennifer Garner.
