It’s Friday, and in an effort to further stifle any and all productivity, here are some fun/interesting/moderately entertaining links with which to kill the last few minutes and/or hours until the weekend.

- It might be rebuilding time for a Texas baseball team that isn’t the Rangers, according to Richard Justice of the Houston Chronicle.

- Is Dwyane Wade really dating Star Jones?? Surely the Chuckster can get to the bottom of this. I was really pleased to find out that ‘cougar’ somehow made the cut for Charles Barkley’s sometimes lacking vocabulary.

Even though a baseball game might not have been the right idea, there’s got to be a place this idea could be implemented on a regular basis, right? I mean, I would go (almost) anywhere if I could get beer for 10¢.

“Ten Cent Beer Night was an ill-fated promotion held by the American League’s Cleveland Indians during a game against the Texas Rangers at Cleveland Municipal Stadium on June 4, 1974.

The idea behind the promotion was to offer as many eight-ounce (237 mL) cups of Stroh’s beer as the fans could drink for just 10¢ apiece, thus increasing ticket sales. However, the stunt also had the effect of slowly turning the calm and orderly baseball fans into a rowdy and raucous crowd devoid of inhibition. Ultimately, the game was forfeited to Texas on the orders of home plate umpire Nestor Chylak because of the crowd’s uncontrollable rowdiness, and because the game could not be resumed in a timely manner.”

It’s true that my excitement for start of the 2008 MLB season is primarily based on my love of Coors Light and Ball Park Franks. But even though I’m a little late in doing so, I wanted to discuss a few things going into the season and get on record with all my major predictions for the year.
