Like everyone else we know, we listened to Weezer growing up. A lot of Weezer. Unfortunately, the band has never been able to live up to the nerd-rock anthems of our childhood, instead electing to get worse and worse…and then worse.
But alas, there is hope! The new album, at least in name, shows the band gettin’ back to basics. It’s called Weezer, and it’s Red. That’s right, like the Green Album and Blue before it, Weezer are back with their third self-titled release.
Are we naive to get our hopes up? Can any band recover from such a monstrous failure as Make Believe. If any band can, it’s Weezer. So yes, we’ve got our hopes up, but still acknowledge an approximate 99.9% chance of disappointment. At least there’s nowhere to go but up.
